Caviar Stick Eye Color by Laura Mercier

What is this ? Why is is called caviar..? what does it have to do with fish eggs? Eye color would mean eye shadow then.. These sticks of waxy colors are supposed to be eyeshadow but I use them as eyeliner.. by holding them almost perpendicular to the eyelids and slowly drawing a nice full line on the lashline. Have you used them ?

My favorites are the darkest colors, like black, smoke, navy and dark brown as they work well as eyeliner.. and then on top you can apply some eyeshadow of the same color if you like to give it a more smokey effect.

This one is by Laura Mercier although most brands have created one, at one time or another, including Nyx, Bobbi Brown, Chanel and others.

Here is more information and the description by Nordstrom.

What it is: An eyeshadow that offers a new technique to enhance the smoky-eye look.

What it does: In a range of beautiful shades, this creamy formula provides endless options for a flawless smoky eye. Each convenient stick is long-wearing, transfer- and crease-resistant. The color glides onto lids and blends easily with a rich color payoff.

How to use: Apply directly to the lashline for a smoky liner effect, or all over the eyelid for higher impact. Blend with a smoky eyeliner brush or your fingertips for a smoldering finish. Use alone or with an eyeliner.

As for the price, it is shamefully pricey, at $29 for one eyeliner or as they want to call it, a stick eyeshadow.

The quality in each brand varies, I found that the ones by Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown are so far the best.. I am not sure if I would pay $28 for one pencil.. but I thought it is easier to use these than using eyeliner pencils that are traditional. Speaking of which, they can be either too hard and harsh on the delicate eyelid skin, or if they are greasy, they may end up drying if you store them for too long.. so these by comparison, work and perform much better.
